Alisha Coleman

Hello, I’m Alisha (Lisha) Coleman. I am the mother of an incredibly cool and awesome daughter. This is her first year in college so I’m a new empty nester. I’m also a dog mom of a cute and sassy miniature poodle named Sebastian.  A few adjectives I would use to describe myself are detailed oriented, observant, organized, analytical, solution focused, peace maker, and the self-proclaimed queen of game night. I love hosting events at my home, especially game nights. I love seeing my family and friends have fun. Some of my other favorite things include listening to music, concerts, brunch, themed events, costume parties, traveling, relaxing, the tv show Friends, decorating, art, Coach, and self-care Fridays. I strongly believe in self-care. I try to live my life stress free as much as possible because I value my peace. I also believe in leading by example. So, for me to teach and encourage others the importance of self-care, stress management, self-love, and peace; my life must be reflective of those things.

In my professional life, I’m a Psychotherapist. I received my BA in Psychology from Grambling State University and my MSW with a concentration in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy from Wayne State University. I’ve been in private practice for three years. I’ve been in the field of mental health for twenty-three years. I am very passionate about Black Women’s Mental Health and Men’s Mental Health. I occasionally write a mental health blog that is posted to my website and professional Facebook page. Last year I was the mental health expert for the Mental Health Mondays segment on CBS morning news. That lasted for four months and was a great experience. I am on the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion commission in the community I live in. I am also a volunteer at Alternatives for Girls. Thank you for choosing me to be a member of the LLD. I am so excited to be a part of a beautiful group of women. I hope to be an asset.
